AIR PICTURE — CHAGRIN FALLS, OH — 2026-07-28

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Dramatically quiet day — traffic running 56% below the 7-day average, with the skies over northeast Ohio noticeably thin.

NOTABLE TRAFFIC

The fast-mover award goes to TFF910 [A9555B], transiting eastbound at 37,000 ft and 545 kts — the fastest contact logged today. Close behind, EJA869 [ABF1B5] pushed 535 kts at 34,400 ft heading east. Both appear to be in a hurry to leave Ohio, which is their prerogative.

Down low, RPA3488, UAL2389, and ERY850 were all observed descending through the 1,000-ft range on southwesterly headings in tight proximity — almost certainly on approach to CLE, traveling in company whether they knew it or not.

PRY03 [A95D42] cruised at a leisurely 150 kts and 14,175 ft heading 303° — likely a turboprop or piston making no apologies for its pace.

ANOMALIES

TEDDY44 [AE07CF] — Military hex AE07CF. Callsign "TEDDY44." Proceeding southeast at 30,150 ft and 506 kts. Nature of mission: unknown. Presence noted. Moving on.

205991 [AE77A0] — Second military hex of the day, southeast-bound at 19,925 ft and 338 kts. No further details available.

Unknown hex contacts: Three transponders — VTM341 [0D0B73], UAE2VL [89655E], and ICE824 [4CC510] — broadcast ICAO codes that fall outside any recognized national allocation. ANA102 [86D266] joins this club. Unallocated hex codes are not automatically sinister, but they do earn a raised eyebrow.

C00638 — Canadian-registered contact at 32,000 ft transmitting Mode S with no flight ID broadcast. It knows we can see it. It simply doesn't care to introduce itself.

UAL1926 [A12796] and N1933S [A17622] both flagged low-and-fast: under 3,000 ft above 200 kts. Worth a follow-up glance.

PATTERN NOTES

Today's 510 contacts against a 7-day average of 1,163 is the most significant story. The drop is consistent and sustained throughout the day — not a sensor gap, just a genuinely quiet Tuesday. Dozens of regular flights across DAL, UAL, RPA, SWA, EDV, and others failed to appear. Canadian traffic (JZA, CJT, WJA, ROU) continued transiting as usual — apparently Canada did not get the memo about the slow day.
