AIR PICTURE — CHAGRIN FALLS, OH — 2026-08-24

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Above-average traffic day (621 contacts, 18% above the 7-day mean) with a respectable mix of commercial, regional, and general aviation — plus a handful of contacts that warrant a second look.

NOTABLE TRAFFIC

MVJ1 [A00048] cruised through at 47,000 ft, heading 092° at 537 kts — above the standard commercial ceiling of 45,000 ft. Consistent with a large business jet or military platform. No drama, but noted.

KOW25 [A066A8] transited at 43,725 ft heading 273°, also punching above typical commercial altitudes. Running with some altitude today, whoever they are.

SKW498W [A9AF29] was doing 306 kts at under 9,000 ft on heading 117° — brisk for that altitude. Noteworthy, not alarming.

JZA735 [C00BA7] was observed at a mere 925 ft, heading 230° at 133 kts — the lowest credentialed contact of the day. Presumably on approach somewhere sensible.

General aviation was represented by N3781F (1,500 ft, 58 kts — out for a leisurely afternoon), N2081B, N115AV, and N888SG, all puttering around below 3,000 ft at triple-digit speeds.

ANOMALIES

[UNKNOWN HEX] F03F36 — no callsign, 2,100 ft, heading 161° at 92 kts. ICAO hex falls outside all known national allocations. Low, slow, anonymous. Worth a note in the log.

[UNKNOWN HEX] EIN9LT [4CA9BB], VTM692 [0D0EA9], VTM288 [0D0AF2], ANA102 [86D266] — all transmitting on ICAO codes outside recognized national ranges. None confirmed in today's position data, but anomaly system flagged them regardless.

[VERY HIGH ALTITUDE] SKW5982 [AC9850] — reported at 72,400 ft. That is not a regional jet having a good day. Data may be corrupt, or someone is flying something we don't discuss at this altitude.

[FOREIGN REGISTRATIONS] — Fourteen Canadian-registered aircraft and two German-registered (BOX469, BOX393 — DHL cargo) transited the area. Nothing unexpected given Great Lakes routing.

PATTERN NOTES

Despite the anomaly log screaming about traffic being "67–94% below average" throughout the day, the final tally came in 18% above the 7-day mean at 621 contacts. The system's rolling intra-day alerts reflect early-window snapshots, not final totals — disregard the panic.

Several regulars failed to materialize: DAL751, DAL845, UAL1252, UAL1969, AAL327, RPA3567/3594, EDV4932, JBU2041, and ASA786/1898 among others. Pattern disruption is notable but not unprecedented on a Monday in late August.
