AIR PICTURE — CHAGRIN FALLS, OH — 2026-06-14

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Quieter than average day with 477 contacts logged (25% below the 7-day norm), a respectable international presence, and one confirmed military squatter in the high-altitude lanes.

NOTABLE TRAFFIC

UAL2612 — United 737 westbound at 36,000 ft, 365 kts, positioned just east of our AOR near 41.4°N. Routine trunk traffic.

JBU65 — JetBlue westbound at 34,025 ft, 385 kts, southwest of our position. Likely a transcon.

ASA36 — Alaska Airlines moving briskly eastbound at 37,000 ft, 544 kts. Somebody had a tailwind.

THY2AY — Turkish Airlines, ICAO registered to the Netherlands, northeastbound at 34,975 ft, 554 kts. Transatlantic positioning, nothing unusual beyond the flag.

DAL1339 — Delta at a relatively low 5,000 ft, heading 48°, southwest of falls. Likely on approach or departure from CLE.

JZA735 — Jazz Aviation (Canadian registration confirmed), descending through 5,950 ft westbound. CLE arrival candidate.

N951CP — Low and slow at 1,600 ft, 71 kts, heading south. General aviation, minding its own business.

ANOMALIES

AE1459 [MILITARY HEX]: High-altitude contact at 36,000 ft, no callsign, ICAO falls within US military allocation. It's up there. It's not talking. Moving on.

Eight additional no-callsign high-altitude contacts (A20471, A70BA6, A58672, A996E1, AC65DC, AA02AB, A708B0, A16A02): Mode S transponders active, flight IDs silent. Individually unremarkable; collectively they account for a notable share of the high-altitude picture today.

AMX008 / CMP470: Unknown ICAO hex allocations — neither falls within any recognized national block. Aeromexico and Copa callsigns on unrecognized addresses warrants a notation, nothing more.

EJM65 / EJA154 / N65KL: Three contacts at 47,000 ft — above standard commercial ceilings. Business jets or something that prefers the thin air. All consistent with large-cabin or government operations.

PATTERN NOTES

Traffic is running 25% light against the 7-day baseline. The missing-regulars list is substantial — DAL1558, UAL660, UAL670, SKW5451, multiple RPA serials, and others simply did not show. No single obvious cause; likely scheduling variance across carriers. The westbound high-altitude corridor remained active throughout the day. Canadian registrations were well-represented, as expected for this airspace.
